HISTORIC MARKERS
On a journey to see the history of Texas? Voyage through a series of history markers in Terry County. You'll see some of the first buildings ever raised in this area and select monuments dedicated to our rich heritage. You can view a list of these markers below and download a pre-planned tour through these locations.
BROWNFIELD CEMETERY

The beginning of the tour will begin on Highway 385 South to Brownfield visiting a true piece of history. The cemetery is the resting place for many of the founders of Terry County with many graves dating more than 100 years old.
DOWNTOWN BROWNFIELD

The second stop will be downtown Brownfield. Take a left at the 380 junction, heading east. Highway 380 will turn into Main Street. Here you will find a downtown square with the country building at the center, the original cobble stone roads, and a Veteran's War Memorial.
BROWNFIELD MUNICIPAL POWER & LIGHT

In 1921 voters overwhelmingly approved new bonds for a municipal power plant and by 1923 Brownfield had electricity.
BROWNFIELD CHAMBER AND VISITOR CENTER

Originaly established in 1947, this chamber building is still in operation today working to build a better Brownfield. Stop in the chamber for any free information about the community. We offer complimentary travel maps and recommendations for a place to eat in Brownfield.
